Hybrid Honda Insight, Japan's Number 1 Selling Car


On May 10, 2009 the Japan Automobile Dealers Association named the hybrid Honda Insight April's number 1 selling car. This is the first time a hybrid has been named to the number 1 slot. Honda sold 10,481 Insights in Japan in April.

Aptly named as the cheapest gas-electric hybrid auto on the market, it retails for $19,000 in Japan (1.89 million yen) and $19,800 in US.

This is with the proviso that you can find one available in the US, as it's just arriving in Honda dealer showrooms.

Considering that the Honda Insight just went on sale in Japan in February, it's fast climb to the number 1 spot should make everyone stand up and take notice.

This Includes rival automobile manufacturer Toyota, who is planning to market the revamped version of the Prius, the best selling hybrid car in the world.
